What We Do

Reducing Cow Heat Stress

Heat stress in dairy cows is of increasing interest and concern due to the impact of global warming. In the UK we have experienced a number of hot summers and we are all aware of the reports of 16,000 cows dying from heat stress in California in 2006.

Research has been carried out in the US which shows a direct link of heat stress to reduced milk yields. Heat stress has also been shown to result in reduced fertility and increased mastitis. Many farmers are investing in mechanical ventilation systems.

We offer a comprehensive service to assess the existing buildings, quantify the scale of the potential problem, assess how natural ventilation can be improved, specify any mechanical solution including fans that are required and calculate the capital and running costs of alternative options.

We can specify the requirements and help you to tender for a cost effective solution.
